Funeral services will be held for Eddie Gene McCool, 52, of Chickasha at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2012, in the Bible Baptist Church with Kim Hayes officiating and Lynn Walker assisting.
Eddie Gene McCool was born in Chickasha on April 8, 1960, the son of Virgil D. and Darlene L. (Brasiel) McCool. He died on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, in El Reno.
Eddie grew up in the Chickasha area and graduated from Chickasha High School in 1978. On June 30, 1978, he married Regina Russell in Chickasha. That fall he began attending classes at Cameron University in Lawton where he obtained two Bachelor of Science degrees in agricultural-related fields including one in Ag Education. After graduating college he and Regina moved to Rector, Arkansas, where he taught Ag Ed for one year after which they moved back to Chickasha and Eddie went to work for his father.
Eddie had a passion for farming and for many years following high school he would do custom harvesting every summer. He began farming for himself after returning to Chickasha. Also for the last 16 years he has worked for Alan Ritchey, Inc. transporting bulk mail to different distribution centers all over the United States.
Eddie loved tending to his cattle and looked forward every year to combining wheat. He could often be found with his grandson, in the fields playing with him and teaching him to farm. Eddie was a people person who loved to spend free time visiting with friends.
He was preceded in death by: his mother, Darlene McCool; sister-in-law, Debbie McCool; paternal grandparents, Laura & Harry Guy McCool; and maternal grandparents, Bertha & Otis Crawford Brasiel.
Survivors include: wife, Regina McCool of the home; son, Seth McCool of Nardin, OK; daughter, Cassara Reyes & husband Julian of Oklahoma City; father and step-mother, Virgil & Cindy McCool of McAlester, OK; brothers, Terry McCool & wife Janet of Chickasha and Keith McCool & wife Daveda of Tulsa; sister-in-law, Jelantha Elliott & husband Don of Chickasha; and four grandchildren, Blake Maxwell, Riley Reyes, Reonna Reyes, and Ramon J. Reyes.
Interment will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
