Memorial services for Dr. Nancy W. Dever, 72, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Bible Baptist Church with Kim Hayes officiating.
Nancy W. Dever was born November 25, 1947 in Washington, North Carolina to Charles Herman Dever and Nancy Leigh (Moore) Dever. She passed away Monday, June 8, 2020 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Nancy grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan and graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in 1965. She went on to graduate from the University of Michigan and went on to receive her Doctorate from there as well.
Dr. Nancy Dever came to Chickasha in July of 1977 and for 42 years she served the Chickasha community as a gynecologist/obstetrician at Southern Plains Medical Center. After some research by Grady Memorial Hospital and SPMC, it was discovered that she delivered 3,192 babies. Her tireless commitment to the patients and families is evident through every child that she helped birth and every mother that she comforted. She was selfless in her support of her coworkers and staff, patients, and women of this community. Her love for her family and those she gave homes to for her entire life is a picture of who Dr. Dever really was. She was someone to emulate your life after as a true servant.
She was preceded in death by both parents and adopted family Clay Wilson and Bill and Joy Livingston.
Survivors include her daughters Megan Dever and Allison Sales and husband David, all of Chickasha; grandchildren Maci and Charlee Williams and Bryson, Ethan and Campbell Sales; step-mother Viola Sanvordenker of Citrus Heights, California; sister Judy Pitcher and husband, Richard, of Tecumseh, Michigan; brother Charles Nicholas Dever and wife, Nancy, of Chelsea, Michigan; brother Dana Arthur Dever and wife, Sharon, of Saline, Michigan; four nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and nephews; adopted family Lori and Steve Brandt, Deven and Abe McMahan and their daughter Darci Grace, Brooke Brandt, Karla and Roger White, Jared and Jacob White, Shirley Wilson, Lisa and Rick Hart, Nina Wilson, Toye Reynolds, Vicky Stewart, and Stacy Pence; and other extended family and friends.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Friends Fur Change, 509 Fieldcrest Dr., Chickasha, OK 73018.
Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
