A funeral service for Dr. George W. Williams III, 77, of Chickasha will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, 2024 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel.

Dr. George W. Williams III was born in Oklahoma City on July 12, 1947 to George W. Williams II and Dorothy J. Williams. He passed from this life on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at his home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

He attended OKC public schools, graduating from Northwest Classen High School in 1965 where he was a member of the band, playing the trumpet. He attended Oklahoma State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology in 1969. While he attended OSU, his favorite summer job was being a brakeman for the Sante Fe Railroad, which he did for three summers. He was a railfan until the day he died. He then applied and was accepted at Washington University of Dentistry in St. Louis, Missouri, graduating in 1973.

During dental school, he was a member of the Naval Reserves Dental Corps and after graduation served two years of active duty at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego, California. He then returned to the Enid area and practiced there for two years. He then joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Norton AFB in San Bernadine, California for three years and Altus AFB in Oklahoma for one year. After that he stayed in the Air Force Reserves, retiring as a Lt. Col. after 21 years of combined active and reserve service.

After Altus, he practiced in Coronado, California for two years but missed his friends and family in Oklahoma and purchased a dental practice in Chickasha, Oklahoma, where he practiced for 35 years. Among all his accolades, he also had his pilot’s license and was a self-proclaimed yachting captain, always chasing sunsets.

He was preceded in death by both parents and brother Bryan Williams.

Loved ones left to remember him are his wife of 31 years, Terri Lynne Williams of the home; children Scott Williams and wife Christa of Fort Worth, Texas, Dr. Stacy Revels, DDS and husband Mark of Norman, and Chris Williams of Norman; four grandchildren Alex Williams, Megan Willliams, Blaine Revels, and Blake Revels; bonus children Tiffany Haile and husband Buck and Paige Dungan and partner Nicholas Inthirath; bonus grandchildren Brant Haile and wife Chandler, and Ella Dungan; and great-grandson Gunner and other extended family and friends.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
