Funeral services will be held for Dorothy Mae Dale Wasson, 92, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2011, in the First Baptist Church, Ninnekah, Oklahoma, with Bro. Mike McReynolds officiating.

Dorothy Mae Dale Wasson was born on July 22, 1919, in Cooperton, Oklahoma, the daughter of John and Ethel (Simmons) White.  She died on Thursday, November 3, 2011, in Chickasha.

Dorothy led a very colorful life.  She grew up on a sheep farm in Cooperton and attended Cooperton Schools.  As a teenager she herded sheep for her father.  Later she continued to work in agriculture with her first husband, Lloyd Dale, breaking horses.

Lloyd and Dorothy moved to Chickasha in 1952.  After Lloyd’s death, she had many jobs including ironing for the public and working as a maid at the San Man Motel.  She was employed at Shanoan Springs Nursing Center for eight years and retired as the Industrial Nurse for Maremont in Chickasha.

She married her husband of thirty years, Vic Wasson, on January 17, 1981, in
Chickasha.  After they married, she returned to work for Dr. Mettry’s dental office.  She and Vic loved to travel and especially enjoyed their fishing trips.  They bought a lake house at Lake Eufaula where they spent many enjoyable hours.

Dorothy was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ninnekah and regularly attended Sunday School and church.  She touched many lives and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by:  both parents; four brothers, infant brother Harry White, Jack White, Lloyd White and Tip White; two sisters, Merle Johnson and Nola Newton; and her first husband, Lloyd Dale.

Survivors include:  husband Vic Wasson of the home; two daughters, Shirley Graves and husband Bill of Chickasha, and Beverly Richardson and husband Jerry of Guthrie; one sister, Eva Brooks of Antlers, OK; one sister-in-law, Mildred Dale of Fort Smith, AR; grandchildren, Renee Townzen and husband Doug of The Colony, TX, Greg Graves of Walden, CO, Kendall Richardson of Guthrie, Terri Friday and husband Mike of Guthrie, and Stacey Hood and husband Dennie of Chickasha; eleven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews

Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Gotebo Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
