A private gathering of immediate family members will take place to honor Dorothy June Sampson, 91, of Chickasha, on Monday, November 2, 2020 in Pioneer Cemetery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no public services will be held at this time, but a celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date.
Dorothy June (Toot) Sampson was born June 5, 1929 in Salem, Ohio, the daughter of Mary and Alvin Toot. She died Saturday, October 24, 2020 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
On December 23, 1950, Dorothy married Gene E. Sampson and it was the beginning of a loving relationship that blessed them with three children, provided countless adventures on the road and in numerous towns across the country where Gene’s pipeline work took the family and spanned 62 wonderful years until his death in 2012. While Gene’s work provided the many destinations, it was Dorothy’s motherly instincts and good driving skills with the family station wagon that delivered her and the children safely.
Dorothy was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church, for years teaching Sunday School classes for young girls and boys.
She was preceded in death by both parents, husband Gene, and sister Virginia Toot.
Survivors include her children Ken Sampson of Chickasha, Randall Sampson of Colorado and Shelley Lacure of Ohio; brother Donald Toot of Florida, grandchildren Jason, Jerett, Lynzy, Aaron and Sarah, eight great-grandchildren and many other extended family and friends.
Dorothy will be long remembered for her faithfulness to God, her cheerfulness, and her abiding love and support of Gene and their children.
Burial arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends Fur Change at 509 Fieldcrest Drive, Chickasha, OK 73018.
