A graveside funeral service for Doris Rowena Marshall, 91, of Amber, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023 in the Amber Cemetery.

Doris Rowena Marshall was born March 12, 1932 in Walters, Oklahoma, the daughter of James Frances High and Cora (Ginn) High. She passed from this life peacefully on Thursday, April 13, 2023 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Doris graduated from Walters High School in 1950. She later married Thurman Paul Marshall on June 10, 1951 in Walters, Oklahoma.  Doris was a wonderful homemaker, she loved to cook, sew, paint and her cinnamon rolls were her known specialty.  They owned and operated a dairy farm for thirty years in the Tuttle and Amber area.  She devoted her life to her loving church community, where she helped with vacation bible school and cooking meals at Falls Creek for campers. Later in life, she enjoyed spending her time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Son Rise Baptist Church, north of Chickasha.

Doris was preceded in death by both parents, husband Thurman Marshall, sisters Irene Clayton and Helen Smith, and brother Melvin High.

Loved ones left to remember her are her daughter and son-in-law Paulette and Roger England of Dibble, son and daughter-in-law Terry and Donita Marshall of Rush Springs; brother William “Bill” High and wife Bobbie Nell High of Duncan; grandchildren Sara Rouse of Duncan, Rachel and Garrod Nightingale of Rush Springs and Brad and Amber England of Dibble; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild, nieces, nephews, cousins as well as many extended family and friends.

The family would like thank the staff at Glenhaven Retirement Village for the loving and compassionate care for the last four years and Kindful Hospice over the last few months.

Viewing will be at Ferguson Funeral Home, Sunday April 16, 2023, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children https://www.obhc.org .

Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
