Doris Jean Miller

d. June 17, 2023

A graveside funeral service for Doris Jean Miller, 82, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 in the Fairlawn Cemetery with Pastor Curtis Townley officiating.

Doris Jean (Baty) Miller was born June 22, 1940 in Merrill, Oregon to Melvin Lon Baty and Ruby Faye (Cox) Baty. She passed from this life on Saturday, June 17, 2023 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

As a young girl, Doris lived in California and moved around for a time, then the family settled in the Cement area. She met the love of her life, Roy Eugene Miller when they were in the 7 th grade and they were united in marriage September 10, 1956. They settled in Chickasha and were married almost 67 years.

Doris first worked at Max’s Drive-In and after starting their family, she worked as a lab technician at American Optical for 17 years. She and Roy were faithful members of the Ninnekah First Baptist Church for many years and she was very involved in the activities of the church. They built a large shop on their land and had many an argument over it, but cared for one another deeply. They also enjoyed gardening. She loved the holidays and having all the kids, grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great-grandkids home. She was “famous” with the grandkids for her mac and cheese. She was loveable and very giving of her time, energy and love. One of her grandchildren through marriage stated “Granny made us one of her own” and this is the sentiment many family members feel. You came in and you were her family. She wasn’t one that liked to fuss or argue.

She was preceded in death by both parents Melvin and Ruby Baty, her in-laws Roy T. and Hazel Miller, sister Lavada Robb and son-in-law Ronnie Morris.

Loved ones left to remember her are her husband of the home, Roy Miller; daughters Terrie ReJean Koegler and husband Paul of Chickasha and Dianna Lee Morris of Chickasha; son Roy Don Miller and wife Patty of Ratliff City; eight grandchildren Chris, Niki, Coy, Janeta, Steven, Justin, Amber and April; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter Aliyah; and other extended family and friends.

Service and interment are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
