Funeral services for Doris J. Vinyard, 94, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016 in the First Christian Church with Michael Oberlender officiating.
Doris J. Vinyard was born on June 26, 1922 in Pocasset, Oklahoma, the daughter of Joseph Frank Robertson and Rita (Patterson) Robertson. She died on Monday, September 5, 2016 in her home in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Doris grew up in Pocasset and graduated from Pocasset High School. She attended OCW College studying accounting and bookkeeping.
She married Bobby Bryan Vinyard on July 22, 1942, in Columbus, Indiana, and to this union four children were born.
Doris and Bob started their own corporation, Central Oklahoma Equipment Corporation where she served as the bookkeeper.
She and her family were members of the Northwest Christian Church in Oklahoma City and First Christian Church of Chickasha.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Vinyard; her parents,Joe and Rita Robertson; son, Robert Vinyard; sister, Fay Osborn; granddaughter, Kimberly Kay Coleman, and one great-grandson, R.J. Coleman.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Kent and Patricia Vinyard, of Norman, David and Meg Vinyard, of Mustang; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Chuck Adams, of Piedmont; two brothers and sister-in-law, Darold and Rena Robertson, of Newcastle and Walter and Carol Robertson, of Pennsylvania, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Jack Langston, of Oklahoma City and Patsy and Stan Burleson, of Yukon; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and extended family and friends.
Interment will be in Resurrection Memorial Cemetery at 3: 30 p.m. located at 7801 N.W. Expressway in Oklahoma City, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
