A memorial service for Donna Marie Start, 68, of Chickasha will be held by the family at 11:00 a.m. on June 8, 2024 at the Ninnekah First Baptist Church.
Donna Marie (Young) Start was born November 3, 1955 in Newark, New Jersey to Ronald Gordon Young and Marie Carmen (Jacobs) Young. She passed from this life on Thursday, May 16, 2024 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Donna grew up in Montclair, California and graduated from Bell High School in Bell, California.
She came to Oklahoma in 1979 and married the love of her life, Joe Edward Start, on September 26, 1980 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Donna was a waitress for many years in the Chickasha community and she enjoyed playing a good joke on her customers. She liked painting, line dancing and had a love for animals. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross and a licensed first responder. Donna loved spending time with her family and friends. Donna loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a brave woman and her son, Ricky, looked up to her. She was dearly loved and will be terribly missed.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband Joe, brothers Ronnie Young and Donald Reynolds, and nephew Eddie Sanders.
Loved ones left to remember Donna is her son Ricky Start of Ninnekah; granddaughter Reanna Start of Amber; “bestest” friend of 43 years Karen Wilkerson of Chickasha and her son Daryl Halbert of Chickasha; and her “Jamie” Wolfe of Ninnekah; sisters Barbara Saunders and husband Jay of Ohio and Rhonda Taylor of Ninnekah; brothers John Young of Chickasha and Robert Young of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law Joyce Stockton and her husband, Carl of Chickasha; four nieces and four nephews; and other extended family and friends. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
