Funeral services for Donald Leon Hurley, 59, of Chickasha, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 20, 2014, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Kim Hayes officiating.
Donald Leon Hurley was born January 27, 1955, in Selma, California, the son of Alfred Hurley and Bertha Orum Hurley. He died Friday, February 14, 2014, in Chickasha.
He grew up in Fresno, California where he graduated high school.
He joined the U.S. Army on March 13, 1976, serving in Vietnam until February 13, 1980, when he was Honorably Discharged.
After being discharged from the Army he became a long haul over the road truck driver and continued driving until his health caused him to retire in November 2013.
Don met his wife Diana Braley, who was a truck driver as well, while truck driving and they were married on April 24, 1993, in Grand Saline, Texas. They drove as a team together until 1998, when she had to retire due to health reason when she became ill with M.S.
After his wife retired from trucking they established their home here in Chickasha.
His family was his first priority, and taking very special care of his wife.
In his time off he enjoyed fishing, camping and building furniture.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald “Pete” Hurley and David Hurley and his mother, Bertha Hurley.
Survivors include his wife Diana Braley Hurley, of the home; his father Alfred Hurley, of Chickasha; brother Lloyd Hurley, of Chickasha and several other extended family members.
Interment will be at 1:00 p.m. in the Ft. Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
