Donald Edward Cumins

d. December 10, 2014

Funeral services for Donald Edward Cumins, 67, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kent Hibbard officiating.

Donald Edward Cumins was born on June 4, 1947 in Coalgate, Oklahoma, the son of Peter Lee Cumins and Vida (McKinney) Cumins. He died Wednesday, December 10, 2014 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma.

Don grew up and attended schools in the Coalgate and Chickasha areas.

He was a long haul truck driver most of his adult life, and he also did some carpentry work. Don was able to operate any large piece of heavy machinery.

Don married Kenita Darlene Mandrell and to this union a daughter, Lisa and a son, Eddy was born.

On October 28, 1987, Don married Karen McFarland in Pampa, Texas, and with this marriage he gained another son, Randy and a daughter, Kacee.

He always stayed busy; he was the “rock” many people called on in a time of need. He was a ‘jack of all trades master of none’ and put those skills to work for the people he cared about. Don never met a stranger and was fast friends with those he came in contact with.

Don liked to play practical jokes and being a big ‘kid’ himself, he loved to entertain babies and children. He was a volunteer at Bill Wallace Early Education Center and the kids there loved “Grandpa Don.” He liked to hunt, and go noodling.  He loved to watch his son, Eddy race motorcycles and he also enjoyed riding his trike with his wife, Karen.

He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Lee Cumins; mother, Vida (McKinney) Alcorn; grandsons, Mikel Joe Mallouf, II and Randon Lee Tyler; nephew, Larry McKinney; and niece, Sharla Kay Malone.

Surviors include his wife of the home, Karen Cumins; daughter, Lisa Cumins of Bradley; son, Eddy Cumins and wife, Vivian, of Salt Lake City, Utah; son, Randy Tyler and wife, Dalana, of Ninnekah; daughter, Kacee McDonald of Chickasha; eight grandchildren, Trevor, Shani, Blake, Wade, Logan, Rainie, Samuel, and Christopher; two great-grandchildren, Paisley ‘Pocket’ and Aiden; brothers, Aaron McKinney and wife, Kayla and Ronnie Self and wife, Jeannie; sisters, Joyce Wright, Linda Hill and husband, Rick, and Kay Hubbard and husband, Carol; brother-in-law, Ed Wright; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Don’s wishes were to be cremated following the services.

Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
