Funeral services for Delora “JoAnn” Boren, 72, of Chickasha, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Kim Hayes officiating.

Delora “JoAnn” (Elrod) Boren, was born September 4, 1945 in Gracemont, Oklahoma, the daughter of Carl Elrod and Dessie Delora (Roach) Elrod. She died Friday, January 12, 2018 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

JoAnn grew up and attended school in Gracemont.

On March 11, 1961, she married Bobby Lee Boren in Anadarko, Oklahoma. They lived in Anadarko for a short time then moved and settled in Chickasha.

JoAnn had worked at Maremont, babysat for many children, and most recently worked the last 18 years as a library assistant for Bill Wallace Early Childhood Center. She was also a member of Bible Baptist Church.

She loved reading, working in her flowergarden, interior decorating, and making flower arrangements. She liked to be outdoors and in earlier years enjoyed camping. She was also known for making a “mean” chocolate cake.

She was preceded in death by both parents, Carl Elrod and Dessie McLemore; her husband, Bobby Boren; brothers and sister-in-law, Marvin and JoAnn Elrod, Albert Elrod, and Clifford Elrod; brothers-in-law, Vernon Dean Boren and Sam Boren.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and Jon Hines of Carrollton, Texas, Susan and Sean Adkins of Chickasha, and Sarah and Jon McDaniel of Chickasha; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Bill Swafford of Moore; brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Glenda Elrod of Edmond; grandchildren, Heather and Jeff McKay, Jacqueline Hines, Jasmine Hines, J. Heath Hines, Kaitlin and Barb Adkison, Naudia McDaniel, Maverick McDaniel, and Harrison Adkins; great-grandchildren, Brooklyn McKay, Kylie Doherty, and Ella Schmidt; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Mary Boren; sisters-in-law, Myrene Boren, Pat Boren, Eva Woodard, and Trova Elrod; and other extended family and friends.

The casket will be open at the funeral home and closed at the service.

Interment in Fairlawn Cemetery will be under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
