A funeral service for Delbert Earl Blalock, 67, of Chickasha, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2023 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Kim Hayes officiating.
Delbert Blalock was born on March 7 th , 1956, in Amarillo, Texas to James and Deloris (Garland) Blalock. He went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2023 surrounded by his family.
Delbert was born with a disability and didn’t learn to walk until he was 5 years old. His mom refused to let him give up and pushed him to always reach for the next goal. This instilled in him the ability to overcome a lot of obstacles throughout his life. After a divorce his mom moved the family to Chickasha, Oklahoma where she met and married Sam Nieto, who became his dad.
Delbert met his soulmate, Karen Mandrell in 1973. They were married on August 16 th , 1974, and he spent the rest of his life loving her.
He worked as a welder, painter, equipment operator, truck driver, as well as other miscellaneous occupations. Delbert spent 19 years in the oilfield, where he quickly advanced his career ending as a Manager/Field Foreman for Halliburton in Central/Western Oklahoma. After leaving the oilfield he began a career in the security business and eventually started his own security company.
One thing Delbert was known for was his love of people and his desire to help others. Delbert was always there to help someone no matter what. In 2014 when he got sick once again, he joined a non-profit group CFSI/BURN/NOMAD where he actively participated in the search for missing and endangered children. He would ride out no matter how far, time of day, or how sick he was, to assist in the search. He became an ordained minister to better assist these families and became a private investigator to help with the mission to mark these kids as FOUND SAFE. He was named the first Road Warrior (BURN’s highest honor) for his efforts. At the time of his death, he was serving as the International Vice President for BURN. He took pride in knowing that as of today BURN has assisted in reuniting nearly 2,000 children with their families.
He was preceded in death by his sister Sarah Blalock, his mother and father Sam and Deloris Nieto, his father-in-law Kenneth Mandrell, and his mother-in-law Annabell Mandrell. As well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He leaves behind his soulmate and mother of his four children, Karen Blalock, his son and daughter-in-law Dustin and Brittany Blalock, daughter and son-in-law Amber and Chris Nunn, daughter and son-in-law Ashley and Tom Blair, and his daughter Juliana Blalock. His 16 grandchildren Madison, Kiggin, Thomas, Morgan, Kennedy, Blaise, Kelsie, Eli, Jace, Makayla, Addie, Zelda, Chloe, Christopher Jr, Heaven, Stella, and one great grandson Cohen. His brother and sister-in-law James and Lavon Blalock, Brother Darrel Nieto, Sister and brother-in-law Sherry and Darryl Austin. His Sister-in-law Darlene Bailey, sister-in-law Beverly Mandrell, sister-in-law and husband Elaine and Kenny Garst, sister-in-law Anita Rodgers, and one very special brother-in-law Allen Mandrell. As well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and a special biker brother, Chuck Foreman and his family, Lynn Foreman and little Charlie. Plus, a worldwide extended family of CFSI/BURN/NOMAD and many wonderful friends.
He will be missed by all those who knew him especially his close friends and family and spoiled wienie dog, Chili Dawg.
