A funeral service for Deborah Sue Nickels, 70, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 in the Parkview Christian Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma with Pastor Joseph Woods officiating.

Deborah Sue (Pemberton) Nickels was born August 28, 1953 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of John Harvey Pemberton and Virginia Lee (Henry) Pemberton. Deborah passed from this life on August 8, 2024 in Norman, Oklahoma.

Debbie grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School in 1971.

She traveled around and lived in Seattle for a time. When she moved back to Oklahoma City, she worked for Hertz Rent-a-Car at the airport and then Dale Lawyer in oil and gas.

On April 29, 1983, Debbie married Ken Nickels and they shared 41 years together.

She worked for the OKC Post Office in maintenance for 35 years. She enjoyed being a mom and aunt but really loved being “Meme” to her grandbabies. She always attended their school activities. She liked to shop, especially for her grandchildren. She was a very kind and positive person and never met a stranger. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Debbie was preceded in death by both parents, her grandmother Flora Wagner and brother James Pemberton.

Loved ones left to remember her are her husband Ken of the home in Moore; son and daughter-in-law Jason and Keri Len Nickels of Clinton; daughter and son-in-law Stephanie and Terry Lagaly of Mustang; son and daughter-in-law Zach and Amanda Nickels of Chickasha; grandchildren Camryn, Aiden, Aubrey, Jackson, Madi, Liberty, and Lincoln; Chipper Strothers of Florida; brothers and sisters Bart Bingham and wife Carol of Chickasha, Holly Rayburn and husband Phil of Midwest City; John Pemberton and wife Tammy of Oklahoma City; and Sherri Rogers and husband Mike of Tulsa; her dog Lady; many nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.

Viewing for Deborah will be at Ferguson Funeral Home located in Chickasha on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in Arlington Memory Gardens, in Oklahoma City under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home,
