Private burial for David J. “Bunt” Allen will be held at the Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin, Oklahoma.
David J. “Bunt” Allen, at the age of 90 passed peacefully on April 4, 2020 at 9:00 p.m. while residing in Tulsa at Saint Simeon’s Senior Community Center. He was born in Ringling, Oklahoma on November 5, 1929 to W. B. “Bill” and Allie Allen.
He was raised in Chickasha, Oklahoma where he lived throughout his life. In 1951 he joined the United States Army and went to Boot Camp at Ft. Jackson, S.C. There he met Celestia Smith. They married and had three children, John Gregory, Gary D. and Gayla C.
In 1981 he married Cynthia G. Holding and became a father to her two girls, Michelle and Elizabeth Holding.
Bunt began working with his father in the trucking industry and eventually purchased his father’s company “Allen Trucking”. He hauled peanuts, fertilizer and operated as an overall hotshot service company. Bunt enjoyed life to the fullest. As a young man he was an avid water skier and could be seen doing his tricks on Chickasha Lake. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and traveling south to Texas, Mexico and Louisiana. He loved to eat catfish, oysters and was a master at his BBQ ribs. He enjoyed his many friends in Chickasha. Was a member of the Eagles Lodge where he was known to have a beer or two. He had a big heart and was always ready to help a friend.
Dad will be missed by his children, John Gregory and Dianna Allen, Gary D. and Ladonna Allen, Gayla and Richard Stewart, Michelle Holding, and Elizabeth and Willie Johnson; his sister Judy Martin; his grandchildren, William D. and Traci, JD, Samantha and Breanna; and 8 great-grandchildren; his many cousins and closely held nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 36 years Cynthia G., parents William B. and Allie Allen, his brother Pete “Archie”, sisters Polly Baxt and Dean Allen and grandson Caleb Stewart.

Interment is under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
