A private memorial for Claudia Ann (Bates) Spell will be held by the family. She passed away January 1, 2020 after a valiant battle with cancer.
Claudia was born November 6, 1953 in Lynwood, California to Harold Foss and Elizabeth Naomi (Hall) Bates. She lived in Compton and Long Beach before joining the Air Force. Claudia made her home with her family in Germany, Washington, and Oklahoma before settling in Mountain View, Oklahoma.
She fought cancer for over 25 years with grit, determination, and humor. She loved baking, crocheting, and gifting her creations to her family and friends. Her crocheted afghans were always blue-ribbon winners at the Mountain View Free Fair.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Saundra, and a brother, William.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Rebecka and Rob Thoms of Marysville, WA; her daughter, Brande Bradford of Chickasha, OK; grandchildren Sierah, Bailey, Delsee, Jacob, Isaac, and Holly; siblings Arthur (Sandi) Bates, Bruce (Mary Lou) Bates, Harold Bates II, Claude Bates, all of California, and Regina Sambrano (Brian) of Idaho; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you share your creations with those you love. If you feel led, donations to the Cancer Center of Southwest Oklahoma in her honor are appreciated. https://www.ccswok.com/donations-heroes-of-hope/
