A funeral service for Christal Dawnell (Wallace) Hopkins, 48, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2024 at New Life Christian Church with Ezell Nelson officiating.
Christal Dawnell (Wallace) Hopkins was born March 11, 1975 in Blackwell, Oklahoma to Gary Dean Wallace and Debbie Ann (McGuire) Wallace. She passed from this life on Saturday, February 10, 2024 in Oklahoma City surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Christal grew up in Verden and graduated from Verden High School in 1993. After high school she attended the Cosmetology College in Chickasha and later she married John Bennett and from this marriage her three children, J.D., Michael, and Ashley were born. Christal was a stay-at-home mother when her children were younger, and then later became a teacher’s aid at Bill Wallace Elementary School. She was also employed at Grady Memorial Hospital for more than nine years as a Secretary in the Nursing department and Human Resources. She then returned to the schools where she was a substitute teacher at Bill Wallace and Lincoln Elementary Schools where she loved the kids.
She married Justin Hopkins on May 3, 2011 in Chickasha Oklahoma. Christal enjoyed going on float trips! She loved to float the Illinois River, a backyard pool, or ocean. She was also a foodie. She loved seafood, and loved to look at recipes and loved to know every ingredient included. Christal loved spending time with her family, watching reality TV shows, traveling to Branson, Colorado, and their annual trip to Mexico but, above all, she loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Christal had a smile that was contagious. She never met a stranger and she wanted you to know every detail of the story when she told them. She loved her sisters dearly and was always dressed up with her make-up, nails, and hair in perfect condition.
She is preceded in death by both parents; sister-in-law, Kari Hopkins King; cousin Lyn Wallace; uncles, Larry Wallace, Tommy and Mikey McGuire, Daryl Bell and Bill Thorn; aunts, Susan Bell and Jan McGuire; and both paternal and maternal grandparents.
Loved ones left to remember Christal are her husband, Justin Hopkins of the home; sons J.D.
