Memorial services for Jeanne “Cheryl” (Lyles) Ellis, 67, of Chickasha will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 5, 2015 at the First Assembly of God Church, 3340 S. 16 th , Chickasha with Johnny Tims and Paul Knight leading the service. Jeanne “Cheryl” (Lyles) Ellis was born August 9, 1947 in Mercedes, Texas, the daughter of John Wesley Lyles, Sr. and Evelyn (Curtis) Lyles. She died Saturday, December 27, 2014 near Maysville, Oklahoma. Cheryl grew up in Ozona, Texas and then moved with her family to Alex, Oklahoma for a short time, where she attended high school and was a cheerleader. Her popularity was overwhelming. She graduated from Chickasha High School in 1965. On April 6, 1972, Cheryl married Bobby Ray Ellis, Sr. in Wichita Falls, Texas. She later went on to continue her education, receiving her LPN license from Canadian Valley Vo-tech in 1994. She went on to put her nursing education and love for helping others towards a career at HealthBack and Lifeline home health agencies. Cheryl was a devout Christian woman and she loved the Lord with all her heart. She was an adoring, loving, kind, and generous person. Cheryl loved being a mother, a grandmother, and a sister. She was admired and cherished by her family and her friends. She touched the lives of many people and was like a mother to many people. Cheryl had a ‘million dollar’ smile. Every person that knew Cheryl said she was the sweetest person they ever met. She was preceded in death by her father, John Wesley Lyles, Sr.; sister, Kerri Sue Lyles; grandmother, Lottie Jewell Curtis; grandfather, Glen Ezra Curtis; and aunt, Cecil Marie Curtis. Survivors include her husband, Bobby Ray Ellis, Sr. of Chickasha; son, Terrence Trent Lyons and his wife, Julie, of Dallas, Texas; daughter, Lisa Dawn Ellis of Dallas, Texas; son, Bobby Ray Ellis, Jr. and his wife, Laneia, of Oklahoma City; mother, Evelyn (Curtis) Lyles of Chickasha; sister, Nancy Lyles Pate and her husband, Bobby, of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother, John Wesley Lyles, Jr. and his wife, Kathy, of Mustang; sister, Terri Lynne Williams and her husband, George, of Chickasha; brother, Roy Glen Lyles and his wife, Jill, of Norman; three grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. Cheryl’s legacy is for everyone to love one another, as she demonstrated by the way she lived her life. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund will be set up as The Cheryl Ellis Nursing Scholarship Fund; donations may be mailed to Chase Bank, c/o Cheryl Ellis Nursing Scholarship Fund, Attn: Thomas Meyer or Sandra Evans, 6310 East Mockingbird Lane, Dallas, Texas 75214. Cheryl’s wishes were to be cremated. Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
