Funeral services for Charles William Thomas, 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Paul Knight officiating.

Charles William Thomas was born April 7, 1930 near Fairview, Oklahoma, the son of Jim A. Thomas and Grace Ellen (Vance) Thomas. He died on Thursday, November 7, 2019 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Charles grew up in the Fairview area helping his family on the farm.

On September 29, 1948, he married Pauline C. Lowery in Taloga, Oklahoma. After several years, Charles took a job with Sutton Nursery and moved all around trimming trees. He and Pauline then settled in Chickasha, where he worked for Brandt’s, Hawkins Implement Company, and finally Bob Lowe Machinery for 30 years.

Charles grew a large garden every year, he also mowed yards and cut wood. He was a hard worker and enjoyed a bit of fishing. He attended Grand Assembly of God Church; he and Pauline also liked vacationing in Eureka Springs. He deeply loved his family, especially enjoying his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by both parents, granddaughter, Rita Gaye Newton and all of his brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Thomas of the home; daughters and sons-in-law Charlene and David Brunson and Karen and Dean Newton, both of Chickasha; grandchildren Danny Mealer, Leslie Edwards and Sherri Newton; great-grandchildren Meghan and Baylee; and other extended family and friends.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
