Graveside funeral services will be held for Charles Junior Powell, 80, of Chickasha, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2011, in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Chickasha with Vance Haskins officiating.
Charles Junior Powell left this earth at his home to join his Heavenly Father on October 9, 2011, shortly after being diagnosed with lung cancer.
Charles was born at home in Foster, Oklahoma, on August 27, 1931, to Charley and Effie (Archer) Powell. After attending school in Verden he joined the United States Navy and was stationed in Oahu, Hawaii.
After his honorable discharge from the United States Navy, he returned home and worked for Leo Maxwell Furniture in Oklahoma City. He later became self-employed,
opening his own business, American Refinishing and Repair, originally located
in Oklahoma City.
He married the love of his life and wife of thirty years, Bobbie Jean Isaacs, in 1981.
He then relocated his business to Chickasha in 1981, retiring in 2002.
Charles was an avid fisherman, enjoyed attending weekly area garage sales, and watching OU and Dallas Cowboy football. He was known by many people
and will truly be missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by: both parents; two brothers, Fred Wagstaff and George Powell; and two sisters, Ruth Tumbleson and Leola Valiant.
Survivors include: his wife Bobbie Jean Powell of the home; one sister, Vera Malone of Midwest City, OK; two daughters, Barbara Baker and husband Larry of Oklahoma City, and Rene Cox of Canyon, TX; two sons, Woody Powell and wife Ginger of Ozark, AR, and Pete Dhalluin of the home. He was the beloved grandfather of Chance and Seth Dhalluin, Nikolaus Minard, and Brianna Cox.
