Funeral services for Charles James Jackson, 87, of Blanchard, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 9, 2018 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Stephen Coley officiating.

Charles James Jackson was born June 15, 1930 in Seminole, Oklahoma, the oldest child of Godfrey Jackson and Mable (McDaniel) Jackson. He died Monday, March 5, 2018 in Norman, Oklahoma.

Charles graduated from Bowlegs High School in 1948 and immediately joined the Marines. He played football and served as an M.P. until sent to Korea as one of the first groups to protect our country. After getting wounded, he was taken to Japan for recovery, but then returned to the battlefield until he completed his term. After leaving the Marines, Charles attend Cameron University, where he completed a 2-year course in Animal Husbandry.

He also met the love of his life, Junia Oreene Williams, whom he named “Willie” while at Cameron University. They married in May of 1954 and had 53 years together.

After finishing school, he and Willie moved to Seminole, where he served on the Police Force as well as working at a couple of ranch jobs until he decided to head out west. They then moved to the Texas panhandle and he worked in the oilfield. Soon after, the family relocated to a ranch near Canadian, Texas, where they could raise their children and fulfill his passion for agriculture.

In 1971 Charles and his family relocated to the Chickasha area to facilitate family needs for his daughter. He worked in industry and agriculture until he was able to become self employed as a rancher and welder.

Charles enjoyed his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at his farm.

He was preceded in death by both parents, sister, Helen Barlow and brother, Cliff Jackson.

Survivors include his wife, Oreene “Willie” Jackson, of the home; his children, Rick Jackson and wife, Nancy, of Edmond, Dennis Jackson of Perryton, Texas, and Vicki Hay of Bismarck, North Dakota; grandchildren and great grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
