Charles Douglas Brinkley, Sr. age 74, of Chickasha, OK, formerly of Freeport, died on October 31, 2019. Charles was born on December 13, 1944 in Ranger, Texas to Jesse and Cleo Scott Brinkley. He was a 1963 Honor Graduate of Eastland High School. Upon graduation, he moved to Freeport where he met his first love, Molly, and they were married in 1964. He worked construction for several years before beginning a 31 year career with Dow Chemical as an operator. He was a member of Local 564 Operating Engineers and a former member of Jones Creek Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Brazoria, and most recently, New Life Christian Church in Chickasha. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife of 24 years, Molly, sisters Wilma Raney and Ruby Copp, brothers Bill Brinkley and Donald Brinkley.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy, of 30 years, his sons, Chuck (Joan) of Torrington, Wyoming and Michael (Stacey) of Wylie, TX, daughters Sherri Cromeans (Charlie), of Quitman, TX, and Shelby Brinkley (Bryan), of Chickasha, OK. He is also survived by grandchildren, Brandi Cromeans of Jamestown, NY, Charli Spindle (Chuck) and , Conner Brinkley, both of Trenton, TX, Bethany Brinkley of Torrington, Wyoming, Molly Brinkley, Emily Brinkley, Andrew Brinkley, and Matthew Brinkley, all of Wylie, TX, Trace Moore, Teague Moore, and Tate Berry of Chickasha, OK, and great grandchildren Stormi Spindle, Ruger Spindle, and Cooper Spindle, all of Trenton and Piper Shores of Torrington, Wyoming. His brother Rodney Brinkley, and sister Geraldine “Totsy” Lewis also survive him along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Charles was an avid fisherman who loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. His best friends in life were his family members. And those who were not family, were treated as such. A private memorial service will be held by the family on November 16, 2019.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
