Graveside services for Charlene “Tinsey” Turpin, 70, of Ninnekah, will be held at 10:30 a.m.,Saturday, September 15, 2012, in the Ninnekah Cemetery, with Reverend Mike McReynolds officiating.

Tinsey went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, September 12, 2012 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  She was born on February 22, 1942 in Harlingen, Texas, to J.C. Mitchell and Kathryn Moore.

Tinsey came to Oklahoma when she was young and attended school in Apache. She married Vernie “Troy” Turpin on September 27, 1958 in Apache, Oklahoma. They came to Grady County in 1986. Tinsey worked as a cook in the public schools and Senior Citizens Center and as a retail clerk in a convenience store.  She then worked as a PBX telephone operator at the hospital.

She was preceded in death by:  her husband of 54 years, Troy Turpin; both parents; one brother, Steven Mitchell; two sisters, Dolores Turpin, and Debi Cast.

Survivors include four sons and daughter-in-law, Rocky and Nora Turpin of Rush Springs, Kelly and Dianna Turpin of Chickasha, Kevin and Candra Turpin of Sterling, Michael “Charlie” and Dawn Turpin of Chickasha; two daughters and a son-in-law, Gina and Jason Reiser of Marlow and Angela “Susie” Smith of Ninnekah; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth and Brenda Mitchell, Tommy and Sue Mitchell, and Ricky and Donnita Mitchell; one sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Rudi Parker; 21 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Interment will be in the Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
