Funeral Services for Cecil R. Sample, 91, of Cement will be held Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in the Assembly of God Church in Cement with Reverend Raymond McPherson officiating.
Cecil R. Sample was born July 13, 1920, in Bennington, Oklahoma, the son of John C. Sample and Rhoda E. Dallas Sample. He died Friday, September 16, 2011, at his home in Cement.
Cecil grew up in the Bennington area where he graduated from High School.
After high school graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served from 1939 until being honorably discharged in 1945.
He married Miriam Johnson in the early 1940’s and to this union his five children were born.
He later married Patricia Ann Chaney in 1956.
Cecil had been employed with several oil supply companies in several towns across Oklahoma. He came to the Chickasha area where he was employed with an oil supply company and later moved to the Cement area where he and Jack Baker formed the B&S Pump Supply. He owned and operated that business for twenty years. He had also farmed and ranched in the Cement area for most of his life.
He was preceded in death by both parents; one daughter, Raydell Sample; four brothers, Elbert, Oscar, Earl & Lloyd Sample; two sisters, Edna Brandon and Evelyn Griffin and a granddaughter, Shemaina Sample.
Survivors include five sons and daughters-in-law, Ray Sample, of Cement, Michael Worden, of Seattle, Washington, Dennis and Roxann Worden, of Ralston, Oklahoma, Cecil and Beth Worden, of Galva, Kansas, and Tony and Vickie Chaney, of Madill, Oklahoma; one daughter and son-in-law, Mia and Terry Smith, of Nevada, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Oliver and Donna Sample, of Chickasha, Verlin and Joyce Sample, of Sherman, Texas, one sister and brother-in-law, Arline & Joe Epperson, of Chickasha; fifteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105
Interment will be in the Cement Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
