A funeral service for Carol Ann Cofer, 82, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Kevin Quinones officiating.
Carol Ann (Reed) Cofer was born November 10, 1941 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charles Franklin Reed and Reba Elizabeth (Hutchins) Reed. She passed from this life on Monday, September 2, 2024 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Carol grew up in Chickasha, attending Chickasha schools until her marriage to Donnie Doyle Cofer on July 29, 1957. She then graduated from Ninnekah at the top of her class.
Carol raised a family of five children. She worked at Pet Milk for over a decade. She and Donnie ran the Cofer & Sons Furniture Store together.
She enjoyed drawing and sketching and she was very talented. Her love for the piano began at a very young age and she outgrew many of her piano instructors. She played for years for her family, friends and at church and in her later years she would entertain the nursing home residents with her talent. She was an avid reader, reading 12 to 15 books per month. You could always find her with a book in her hand and a smile on her face.
She had a gentle and kind spirit and had a faithful relationship with the Lord. She was the unofficial doorkeeper of Shanoan Springs Residence, where she was the President of the Residence Council for more years than can be remembered.
A special thank you to the staff at Shanoan Springs for the excellent care. This was her home for 13 years and she loved you and loved being the surrogate mom to many.
She was preceded in death by both parents and her husband Donnie Doyle Cofer, Sr. in 2007, daughter Susan Gayle (Cofer) Bounds and brother Donald Jay Reed.
Loved ones left to remember her are her sons Donnie “Dee” Cofer and wife Kimberly of Chickasha, Bobby Cofer of Cyril; daughters Connie Cofer of Oklahoma City and Mary (Cofer) White and husband Darrell of Chickasha; brother John Reed and wife Frances of Ninnekah; numerous grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends.
A visitation for Carol with family here to receive friends will be held on Wednesday, September 4 th at Ferguson Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
Interment will be held in the Pocasset Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
