Funeral services for Burdina “Lorene” Null, 97, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 19, 2018 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Michael Oberlender officiating.
Burdina Lorene Null, known as Lorene, was born on April 6, 1920 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma, the daughter of Lloyd E. Null and Susie J. (Jones) Null. She passed away Monday, January 15, 2018 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Lorene graduated from Ninnekah High School in 1938 and attended Oklahoma College for Women, now USAO, graduating in 1942.
She started her career with Corps of Engineers during the construction of Borden General Hospital and joined the clerical staff at the hospital. After the hospital was closed, she worked as a secretary and bookkeeper from 1946 to 1954 for the local radio station, KWCO. She then worked for Chickasha Cotton Oil Company from 1954 to 1962. She then accepted a position with the Chickasha field office of the Department of Agriculture’s Soil Conservation Service until 1968, when she transferred to the Watershed Planning Staff retiring from there in 1982.
She was a member of the First Christian Church. She also was a member of the Altrusa Club, Beta Sigma Phi, and Philo Mathis.
The family would like to acknowledge the following people for their loving care of Lorene throughout the years, Dr. Don Hess, Lanetta Richards, Crystal Coleman, Sara Stuckey, Jeannie French, Charlotte Henson (now deceased), Richard Prather, and the staff at Grace Living Center.
Lorene was preceded in death by both parents and her sister, Doctor Elsie L. Null, and cousin Almedia Stamp.
Survivors include her cousins, Loretta and John Miller of California and their children, David and Janet, Carolyn and Phil, and Steven and Satomi; her cousin, Almedia Stamp’s children, Susan and Donn and Donnie and Kathy; her cousin, James “Mickey” Heath and wife, Lorna, of Blanchard; and many other extended family and friends.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
