Bobby Lee Baker, 81, of Chickasha, passed away Monday January 4, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. There will be viewing at Ferguson Funeral Home Thursday, December 7th from Noon until 7:00 p.m.
He was born April 13, 1939 in Carnegie, OK to Walter and Bessie Baker. He married the love of his life Marcia (Schuermann) on April 5, 1958. He and Marcia (known by most as Sally) moved to Chickasha in 1965 where he began to work at Motor Service Motor Parts store. Soon after, he became co-owner to an American Motors Dealership. He worked his way to Manager of Motor Service where he retired in 2001. He served two terms as state president of Woodmen of The World and started the Oklahoma Woodmen bi-annual state birthday. He and Sally were active with Woodmen for 25 years. In 2004, he started working summer months for Bob Lowe Farm Machinery. Every fall, he and Sally went to south Texas to spend the winter months. Bob loved playing golf and cards with special friends Lowell and Barb Dossett. He enjoyed “the nice weather” south Texas brought him and loved going to the beach at South Padre Island. He enjoyed the times he went for morning coffee at Transmission Exchange. He was always fixing something for someone or lending a helping hand.
Bob’s special times were spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed sitting back and watching them live life, especially when a great-grandchild was being ornery. He is described as being kind, generous, hardworking, witty, giving, selfless, kind hearted and friendly.
He is preceded in death by both parents Walter and Bessie Baker, one brother Willie Baker and wife Nema; one great-grandchild Chloe Phillips; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ron and Nola Schuermann.
He is survived by his loving wife Marcia (Sally) Baker of the home. Daughter Darla Frick and husband Bill of Chickasha, Son Eddie Baker of Chickasha and Son Mont Baker and wife Neysha. Also surviving are his six grandchildren. Dustin Cook and wife Nicole of Blanchard, DesiRae Priddy and husband Ray of Ardmore, Magan Aldridge and husband Garret of Chickasha, Emily (Emmy) Baker of Chickasha, Drew Baker of Chickasha and Kenzee Baker of Chickasha. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren Lily, Ella and Hudson Cook all of Blanchard and Mac Aldridge of Chickasha. Also leaving behind a brother Kenny Baker and wife Dede of Oklahoma City, Sisters JoAnn Austin and husband Rick of Oklahoma City and Darlene Mckay and husband Jack of Anadarko; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard and Lona Schuermann of Carnegie; numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
A private family service in Fairlawn Cemetery will be officiated by Alan Verser and under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
