Bobby Joe Brownen, 88, of Chickasha, entered into God’s Kingdom on May 3, 2024. He was born August 1,1935 to Thelma and Clifford Brownen in Amber, Oklahoma.
Bob, the devoted husband, father, and grandfather is survived by his wife of 37 years Sue; son, Marty and his wife, Melissa; daughters, Sheryll and Shelly; grandkids, Chad, Kyle, Krayton, Katie and Alex; great-grandkids, Braeli, Maylee and Harper as well as other family members and friends.
Upon graduation from Meridian High School, Bob attended Central State on a Baseball Scholarship. His greatest joy was playing baseball and was offered a minor league contract but he had started a family and decided to stay in school and raise his family.
His work years started out in Chickasha at the Grady Co. Courthouse in the tax department, working for Purdue building homes and working for Standard Concrete driving a mixer truck in California, then returning to Chickasha he managed Chickasha Transit Ready Mix Concrete for many years before returning to California and finishing his work life at Standard Concrete.
Bob and Sue moved to Delaware, AR in 1994 where he enjoyed fishing, gardening and taking family vacations to Beaver Lake. They returned to Chickasha in 1999 to be closer to family.
Bob had the personality and natural charisma to make friends no matter the situation, and his humor was infectious to everyone around him. A man of many stories, some factual and others not so factual, all that would draw out inspiring conclusions.
Bob was a truly great man whose impact will be forever felt by his family and friends who loved him dearly. He was a selfless man whose passing left an unfillable gap in our hearts.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Brownen, father, Clifford Brownen and son, Chuck Brownen.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 in the Tuttle Fairview Cemetery, 1001 E. Rock Creek Rd., Tuttle, OK, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home, where words of comfort and condolences may be left for the family at http://www.ferguson-funeralhome.com .
A viewing at Ferguson Funeral Home in Chickasha will be Tuesday, May 7 th from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
