Memorial services for Billy R. Tallent, 73, of the Laverty area, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 21, 2020 at New Life Christian Church with Gary Layman officiating and Ezell Nelson assisting.
The world lost a bright light, a kind and generous soul. Billy R. Tallent departed this life on August 16, 2020. He was a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was born May 12, 1947 in Anadarko, Oklahoma to Altus “Bill” and Virginia (Scott) Tallent.
Billy attended Washita Public School for grades 1-8, then graduated from Anadarko High School in 1965. He was a lifetime hunter and fisherman. He described his childhood as near perfect, enjoying fishing and swimming in the Washita River. Billy was an athlete and enjoyed all sports while in school. He was a welder and made his career building horse trailers at Jackson Manufacturing in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Billy married Debra Jackson in Chickasha on December 18, 1971 and two children were born to this happy union. He considered his greatest achievement as being a father and grandfather, they were the joy of his life. Most importantly, Billy was a child of God and member of New Life Christian Church. He was a loyal friend and never met a stranger. He loved to tease and brought laughter to all who knew him.
He had a volunteer’s heart and served hospice programs, the Summer Food and Fun Program and more recently the Emergency Food Pantry.
Billy was preceded in death by both parents.
He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Debra; daughter, Erin Blythe and husband, Steve; son, Caleb Tallent; grandchildren, Stephen Blythe, Castil and Chloe Tallent and their mother, Tessa Tallent; host children, Laura Van de Loo and Andy Hung; sister Linda St. John and husband, Lee; brothers, Robert Tallent and wife, Diane, and Leslie Tallent and wife, Donna; special auntie, Charlsie Bernice Henderson; mother-in-law, June Jackson; sisters-in-law, Jacque Burtschi, Vicki Wilson and husband, Johnny and Shelly Powell; numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
Billy would want us to recognize the special staff at DaVita Dialysis Center of Chickasha and his doctors, Turner, Crook and Nguyen for their excellent care of him.
