A memorial service for Billy Jene “BJ” Hartis, 34, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel, located in Chickasha, Oklahoma, with Pastor Josh Gresham officiating.
BJ, also known as Bill, was born September 8, 1989 in Hillsboro, Texas. He is the son of Cindy (Williams) Wood and Joe Douglas Hartis and grew up in Chickasha and graduated from Chickasha High School in 2008. He then attended Labette Community College in Parsons, Kansas on a baseball scholarship.
He enjoyed gaming, baseball and golf, attending the annual DHI Golf Tournament, where he was a 13-time champion. Throughout the years, he gained experience across various employment opportunities and over the past several years, demonstrated excellence in the oil & gas industry.
Bill navigated life on his own terms with an indomitable spirit. His infectious joy and unwavering confidence created an atmosphere of perpetual celebration. He lived each moment fully, ensuring that his presence brought happiness to those around him. Bill’s zest for life made every encounter with him an unforgettable and joyous experience. His magnetic personality and ability to make everyone smile will be cherished in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have shared in his vibrant journey. Bill’s legacy is one of living authentically. He leaves behind a tapestry of memories filled with laughter, warmth, and the enduring echoes of a life well-lived.
BJ was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill Williams, Claire Williams, and Monnie Grace Williams.
Loved ones left to remember him are his dad and step-mom; Doug and Erica Hartis of Chickasha, mom and step-dad Cindy and Michael Wood of Chickasha; brothers and sister-in-law Jace and Jessica Hartis of Haslet, Texas and Chance Hartis and Vanessa Allison of Chickasha; nephews Brennen Hartis, Hayes Hartis, Beckam Hartis and Jace Arnold, all of Haslet, Texas; grandparents Gene and Betty Hartis of Joplin, Missouri; close friends Blake Taylor, Ryan McClure, and Bennie Gamboa; aunts, uncles, and many other extended family and friends.
