Funeral services for Bill Chiles, 79, of Pocasset, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014, in the First Baptist Church of Pocasset, with David Treadaway officiating.
Bill Chiles was born November 26, 1934 in Pocasset, Oklahoma, the son of William Chester Chiles Sr. and Violet Caldwell Chiles. He died Tuesday, May 27, 2014.
William “Bill” Chiles grew up west of Pocasset. He moved to El Reno where he attended and graduated high school. He attended college at OSU where he was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science in 1956. Bill loved OSU. After college graduation he returned to the family farm in the Pocasset area.
Bill married Jeanette Effenbeck on August 2, 1958 and to this union his three children; Wendy, Kevin, and Chet were born.
He later married Dyan G. Layton in Maui, Hawaii on February 22, 1981.
Bill was a member of the Pocasset Mason Lodge # 403, a member of the Chickasha Rodeo Association, OSU Alumni Association, and Southwestern Cattleman’s Association and also a member of The Flying Farmers. Bill was a licensed pilot he loved to fly, and he also enjoyed water skiing, dancing and farming.
Bill was a member of the First Christian Church of Chickasha and he also attended First Missionary Baptist Church in Pocasset.
He was preceded in death by both parents; sister’s Betty Jo, Gloria, and daughter Wendy Dianne Hatcher.
Survivors include his wife, Dyan Chiles of the home; four sons and daughter-in-laws; Brent Layton of Pocasset , Brian and Kelly Layton of Pocasset , Kevin and Tracy Chiles of Pocasset, Chet and Stephanie Chiles of Minco; grandchildren, Andy, Audrey, Jessica, Randall, Annessa, Zach, Brayden, John, Will, McKenzie; and great grandchildren; Landon, Reagan, Zander, and Chris.
Interment will be in the El Reno Cemetery in El Reno, Oklahoma under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
