A private graveside memorial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery for Beverly Jeanne Brown, 93, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Chickasha.

Beverly Jeanne (Holcombe) Brown was born August 18, 1931, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to William Joseph Holcombe and Nancy Cecilia (Sweet) Holcombe. She passed from this life on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Beverly grew up and graduated from Henryetta High School, and then attended OCW, now USAO, on an Art Scholarship. She met Wendell V. Brown and they married on August 15, 1950.

She worked alongside the Brown family at the Brown Funeral Home as a licensed funeral director and secretary for many years as they served the Chickasha community. In 1979, she purchased Etc. Gift Shop and owned it for many years. She also had been active in real estate management.

Mrs. Brown was a longtime member of Epworth United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a faithful member of the Untied Methodist Women. She served as President of the Home Culture Club and continued to be a member. She was involved in PEO, the Tuberculosis Association, Junior Social Workers and as Chairman of The Salvation Army Doll Program. In 1965, she was named as one of the Outstanding Young Women in America for her service to the Chickasha community. In the 1980s, she also received an award for Business Woman of the Year by the Chickasha Chamber of Commerce.

She found joy in sewing, quilting, painting and furniture refinishing. She was a great homemaker and loved to cook and host parties with great hospitality. She was the matriarch of the family, her friends and the community.

On July 30, 2001, she married Jack Hollingsworth and he preceded her in death.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wendell V. Brown in 1995 and husband Jack Hollingsworth.

Loved ones left to remember her are her son Steven Lyman Brown of Oklahoma City, daughter Victoria Elizabeth Dixon of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Mathew Miles Brown of Edmond, Sean William Brown of Chickasha, and Cassady Brown Dixon of Oklahoma City; great-grandchildren Ellis Brown and Collins Brown of Edmond; and other extended family.

Cremation arrangements and interment are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
