Funeral services for Betty Ruth Harlin, 83, of Ninnekah, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 4, 2019 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Kim Hayes officiating.
Betty Ruth (Robinson) Harlin was born on October 12, 1936 in Maysville, Oklahoma, the daughter of Frank Robinson and Sarah Ona (Goodner) Robinson. She passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 in Lindsay, Oklahoma.
Betty grew up in Maysville and Bradley. She married Boyd Burdett English on June 20, 1951 and to this union she had five children, Belinda “BJ”, David, Phillip, Carey and Steven.
She raised her children in Lindsay and was a great homemaker and mom. She worked in the Lindsay Broomcorn Factory for many years and also sold insurance for a time. Betty had been a member of the Lindsay First Baptist Church in earlier years.
On May 15, 1982, she married Harlan Edward Harlin in Wichita Falls, Texas. They enjoyed 33 years of marriage before his passing in January 2016.
They enjoyed travel and both were members of the Chickasha Elks Lodge #2125. In 1997, she was crowned the Sweetheart Queen and was an active member of the Elkettes. They liked to go to casinos and had a place at Chickasha Lake where they would get together with their children and grandchildren and enjoyed camping, boating and fishing. Betty dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both parents, husband, Harlan Harlin, great-grandchild, Kenley Sue Kester and nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Belinda “BJ” Mosley of Lindsay; son and daughter-in-law, David and Kelli English of McAlester; son and daughter-in-law, Phillip and Deborah English of Lindsay; son, Carey English and wife, Ana of Tuttle; son, Steven English of Purcell; brothers, Donald Robinson and Howard Robinson; sister, Joann; step-daughter Christi O’Leary and husband, Kevin; 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.
Interment will be in Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
