Graveside memorial services for Betty Ruth Boyt, 92, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Fairlawn Cemetery with Pastor Jerl Joslin officiating.

Betty Ruth (Dietrich) Boyt was born on November 2, 1924 in Chickasha, Oklahoma to George A. Dietrich and Grace M. (Hensley) Dietrich. She passed away at her home in Chickasha on Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

Betty grew up in Chickasha, graduating from Chickasha High School in 1942. She was president of her freshman class from 1938-1939 and she was the 1939 Miss Grady County. Betty was elected president of her senior class from 1941-1942. She was crowned Homecoming Queen in 1941. After high school, she went to Tulsa University.

Betty returned to Chickasha and was employed in various positions with increasing responsibilities with the local military hospital, Borden General Hospital. There she met Eugene “Gene” P. Boyt, who had been a POW with the Japanese and was recovering from his wounds at Borden General where she was working as a clerk stenographer. They were married in the Borden General Hospital Chapel on May 30, 1946.

Betty and Gene moved to Kingman, Arizona, where Gene worked as an engineer and Betty was a homemaker. They had two sons, Robert George Boyt born in 1947 and Thomas Eugene Boyt born in 1950. Throughout the years, the family lived in Davis Dam, Arizona; Palisades, Idaho; Faming Gorge, Utah; Gunnison, Colorado; Delta, Colorado; and Patillas, Puerto Rico. They returned to Chickasha to care for Betty’s parents in 1973.

She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Her life focus was her children and grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, Gene, brother, George A. Dietrich, Jr. and sister, Opal (Dietrich) Turner. Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Marvina Boyt of Sapulpa and Thomas and Janice Boyt of Valparaiso, Indiana; grandchildren, Brandon Robert Boyt, Shoni and Tyson Poe, Kami Ruth and David Mirc, and Abbie Rae and Justin Cain; and other extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dean McGee Eye Institute, 608 Stanton Young Blvd., Suite 348, Oklahoma City, OK 73104.

Cremation arrangements and interment in Fairlawn Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
