Betty Lou Merrell, 84, of Chickasha, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 10, 2020, from complications of Covid.

She was born on August 7, 1936 to Georgia Ann (Luna) Tipps and Adren “Cecil” Tipps in Tishomingo, OK.

Betty loved to sew and crochet; she made many dolls and doll clothes for her granddaughters as well as Halloween costumes. Working in her yard and growing flowers was a love of hers. Her greatest love was spending time with family and friends. Her loved ones spent many hours visiting either at the kitchen table or swinging in the backyard. That’s where anyone could get a hug, words of encouragement or if you needed it a scolding. Love and laughter is a the legacy she left for all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her mother Georgia Byars; father Cecil Tipps; infant son Larry Dewayne Durington; son Robert Merrell; mother-in-law Louise Galbreath; father-in-law Calvin Merrell; brother Harold Tipps; sister Ann Mueller; sister-in-law Katherine “Pete” Johnson; brother-in-law Dave Johnson; brother-in-law Jay Merrell; and former husband Bobby Durington.
