Funeral services for Bettie Joe (Parrish) Grigg, 81, of Ninnekah, will be held at 11:00 on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Grand Assembly of God with Pastor Gary Rogers officiating.
Bettie (Parrish) Grigg was born June 6, 1937 in Franklin, Texas, the daughter of Willie Parrish and Erma (Dudney) Parrish. She was greatly loved by her 6 siblings. She was reunited with the love of her life on August 16, 2018 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
She met Ottis Morgan Grigg, Jr. in April of 1953, and they eloped a week later. They spent over 60 years showing the world that time is irrelevant when it comes to true love. He went on to prepare a place for them both on August 6, 2015.
Bettie spent her marriage caring for her home and four children: Daniel, Debra, Frances, and Kathy. Although her health no longer allowed her to attend church, she long ago accepted God in her heart and instilled that love in her family. She was happiest hosting large family dinners. If you walked into her house, she was going to try to feed you. Bettie spoiled three generations of her family, individually and in her own way, so each family member knew their relationship with her was special. She had many talents, but her greatest gifts were her bigger than Texas heart and her capacity to love unconditionally. Bettie never spoke a harsh word against anyone. She took care of everyone and everything. Once you were hers, you were hers always. She was the greatest blessing a family could have. To say she will be missed is an understatement.
She was preceded in death by both parents; her husband, Ottis Grigg; her sisters, Joyce Smith and Barbara Cannon; her granddaughter, Jeannie Grigg; and her son-in-law, Sherman Head.
Survivors include daughter and son-in-law, Frances and John Reed of Ninnekah; son and wife, Daniel and Betty Grigg of Amarillo, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Wes Blankenship of Lindsay; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Harold Grissom of Ninnekah; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Bud Graham of Abilene, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Geraldine and John Piskur of Vermilion, Ohio; brother and sister-in-law, Alvin and Tina Parrish of Anson, Texas ; and brother, George Parrish of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Interment will be held in Ninnekah Cemetery under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
