A memorial service for Beth Elaine Tanos, who went by Elaine, 72, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bryan Haynes officiating.

Beth Elaine (McKinney) Tanos was born July 14, 1951 in Norman, Oklahoma to Roland “Mac” Wash McKinney and Irene Elizabeth (Curry) McKinney. She passed from this life on September 21, 2023 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Elaine grew up in Oklahoma and graduated from Lindsay High School in 1969.

In 1970, she married Joseph Randall Powell and to this union her two children Beth and Tony were born. During this time, she focused on raising and making a home for her family. Elaine later worked for First Federal and in banking as a loan officer for many years.

In 1992, she moved to Florida and married Richard Paul Tanos. They loved to travel and visited Canada and many states across the U. S. They lived in Kansas for 5 years and moved to Ecuador for 4 years. When Richard passed away in 2015, Elaine moved back to Chickasha.

She loved to travel and over these next years she visited over ten countries, just recently returning from the Dominican Republic. She always focused on the positive things in life and encouraged others to do the same. She was a huge Harry Potter fan and loved her puppies, naming them Hermonie and Maverick. She showed her love through cooking and made the best beef enchiladas. She was on the Board for the Senior Nutrition Center and would often take them homemade desserts. She also had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her yard and with her flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Tanos, and a son Joseph “Tony” Powell.

Loved ones left to remember her are her daughter Beth (Powell) Wehling and husband Chris of Newcastle; grandson Garrett Wade Ray of Newcastle; grandchildren Morgan, Brittany, and Jacob, all of Florida; brother Leslie McKinney and wife Sheila of Canada; sister Vianna Martin of Blanchard; nieces and nephews Doug Martin, Sharlet Yeargin and husband Brian, Beau Martin and wife Marissa, and Mary Martin; special great-niece Desirae Ledbetter; and other extended family and her many friends.

The service and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
