Funeral services will be held for Anna Ruth Rodgers, 77, of Ninnekah, at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 26, 2012, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Wayne Sharp officiating.
Anna Ruth Rodgers was born on September 19, 1934, in Munday, TX, the daughter of Lyle and Lucille (Shaw) Stodghill. She died on Monday, January 23, 2012, at home in Ninnekah.
Ruth grew up in Munday, TX, and graduated from Munday Public Schools. She married Jimmy Peek in 1952, and to that union her three sons were born. During that time Ruth was primarily a homemaker although she did work for a time at a bank in Houston.
On December 6, 1982, she married Charley Rodgers in Wellington, TX. They eventually settled down in Ninnekah and she gained employment at Johnston’s Auto Supply, retiring in 1998. She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Chickasha.
Ruth loved the outdoors and spent many hours in her garden tending to her flowers and plants. She loved to spend time with her family and was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She was preceded in death by: both parents; one son, David Peek; two sisters, Jane Rose and Betty Lemaster; and one brother, Herbert Stodghill.
Survivors include: husband, Charley Rodgers of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy & Selena Peek of Santa Fe, TX, John & Joy Peek of Houston, TX, and Mike & Brenda Rodgers of Chickasha; one daughter, Terri Hayes of Pioneer; two sisters, Marie Williams of Wheeler, TX, and Sue Groce of Huntington Beach, CA; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012, in the Johnson Memorial Cemetery in Munday, TX, under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
