Memorial services for Anitra Nelson, 43, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at New Life Christian Church with Pastor Ezell Nelson officiating and Gary Layman assisting.

Anitra Nelson was born on May 9, 1974 in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Bill Nelson and Lynita (Swiler) Nelson. She passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Anitra grew up in Amber and graduated from Amber-Pocasset High School in 1992. After high school, she attended Manhattan Christian College for one year and came back to Chickasha. She then attended and graduated from CVTC with her LPN certification and began working in healthcare. After a bit, she attended OCCC and received her associate’s degree as a legal secretary. She worked for the Turnpike Authority for several years before then getting her LPN recertification through the Moore/Norman Technology Center. Anitra loved nursing and worked for the Baptist Burn Center, several long-term care facilities, and most recently in home healthcare for Around the Clock Home Care.

She enjoyed reading, watching movies, and posting on social media. She loved attending Christian concerts and was an active member of New Life Christian Church. Anitra was the best at choosing funny cards and she loved animals, especially kittens. She was caring and compassionate, and had a candor about her where she would speak her mind openly but with love. She was nicknamed, “The Boss”.

Anitra was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her niece, Autumn Nelson.

Survivors include father and mother, Bill and Lynita Nelson of Amber; sister and brother-in-law, Kami and David Ratcliff of Amber; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ezell and Anita Nelson of Chickasha, and Oscar and Bergundy Nelson of Chickasha; nieces and nephews, Keely Ratcliff, Nathan Ratcliff, Ollie Nelson, Bearton Nelson, Georgia Nelson, and Coralei Nelson; and other extended family and friends.

Anitra’s choice was cremation and memorial donations may be given to New Life Christian Church, Building Fund, PO Box 1807, Chickasha, OK 73023.

Services and cremation arrangements are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
