Alta "Jean" Martin

 A funeral service for Alta Jean Martin, 78, of Ninnekah, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2025, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Carlisle officiating.

Alta “Jean” Martin was born July 25, 1946, in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Alton Eugene Holt and Lavell (Bobo) Holt Sieger. She passed from this life on Saturday, February 22, 2025, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Jean grew up in Ninnekah and graduated from Ninnekah High School. She went to beauty school for a year then married Gusona Neal Martin.

They moved to Liberal, Kansas for a few years where she worked as a beautician then they lived in Mobile, Alabama for a time. In 1975, they moved back to Ninnekah around 1984. Gus passed away in 1986.

Jean worked for Ryker Insurance and then for many years worked for State Farm. She married Bill Singleton in the early 1990’s and they shared several years together.

She loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed watching them play ball. She enjoyed time with family and liked shopping and getting her nails and hair done.

In November 2014, she married Larry Joe Menefee until his passing in 2018.

Jean was very welcoming and friendly. Her selflessness was shown in her love to help people. 

She was preceded in death by both parents; her husbands, Gus Martin, Bill Singleton, and Larry Joe Menefee; brother Jackie Holt; grandson Tyler Martin and great-grandson Hunter Adair.

Loved ones left to remember her are her sons and daughters-in-law Mike and Mandy Martin of Ninnekah and Neal and Requetta Martin of Chickasha; sister and brother-in-law Patty and Ernie Smith of Duncan; grandchildren Mika Adair and husband Nathan of Ninnekah, Michael Martin, Ashley Martin, Matthew Martin, Zachary Martin, and Caylee Martin; great-grandchildren Brantley, Colten and soon-to be Braxton; and other extended family and friends.

A viewing for Jean will be held at Ferguson Funeral Home from 2:00 pm until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 27th with the family present to receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery will be under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
