The family will hold memorial services for Almeda DeHart, 78, of Chickasha, at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Fair Baptist Church in Duncan, Oklahoma.
Almeda DeHart was born October 14, 1938 in Empire, Oklahoma, the daughter of Acel Ezra Best and Lucille (Cash) Best. She died May 19, 2017 in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
She graduated from Empire High School in Empire, Oklahoma. She was an executive secretary with Halliburton Energy for 20 years. Her hobbies included raising flowers and loving her grandchildren. She was an avid fan of OU women’s basketball and had a handwritten note from their coach, Sherri Cole that she treasured. She also loved the OKC Thunder and watched the NCAA tournaments every year.
Almeda married Charles DeHart on June 13, 1991 in Duncan, Oklahoma.
She loved her church and her church family at Fair Baptist. She was a grand champion grandmother and her grandchildren called her “Grammy.” She was a great cook and a very sharp dresser and a terrific mom.
She was preceded in death by both parents, a granddaughter, Rachel Rothner; two brothers, Keith and Bill Best and best friend Ronnie Jane Scott.
Survivors include her husband, Charles DeHart of the home; daughters, Faryl Farmer of Chickasha, Fonda and Bill Cheatwood of Empire, Shanon and David Cruz of Whittier, California; sisters Bernice Koelher, Wanda Lyles, Mona Dean McClennen, Marie and Cecil Chatham; sister-in-law, Colleen Best; grandchildren, Sunny, Austin, Ryan, Blake, Kelby, Gabrielle, Nicole and great-grandchildren, Caden and Kyleigh; and other extended family and friends.
Viewing will be at Ferguson Funeral Home Monday, May 22, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
