God graciously called Alma Lorene Crowder home to heaven on Tuesday, January 26, 2016. She was 83 years old and had previously lived in Chickasha for many years, now residing in Norman. Her funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 29, 2016 at Bible Baptist Church with Kim Hayes officiating.
Alma Lorene Crowder was born November 25, 1932 in Lela, Texas, the daughter of Tom and Lottie (Lamb) Pepper. She was one of eleven children and grew up in Lela and Shamrock, Texas, where she graduated high school in 1951.
On December 11, 1953, she married Dee Ford Crowder in Shamrock, Texas. For a short while, they lived in Texas where their two daughters, Denise and Deanna, were born. Then in 1965, they moved to Chickasha and Alma worked as a teller at First National Bank for a number of years. Later she worked at Jane Brooks School for the Deaf, retiring in 2002.
Alma, known by most as Meme, dedicated her life to raising her children and loving her family. She loved cooking, baking, and teaching her grandchildren how to cook. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church and was very involved in the church activities.
She was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, three brothers, one sister and a granddaughter, Danielle Elizabeth Marlin.
Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Larry Marlin of Mobile, Alabama and Deanna and Lee Fairchild of Goldsby; three brothers and their wives, Roy and Jonnie Fay Pepper, Leon and Martha Pepper and Dennis and Kay Pepper; three sisters, Dora Woods, Wanda Armstrong and Shirley Gist and husband, Jay; six grandchildren, Crystal, James, Amy, Daniel, Brandon and Anna; ten great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends.
Services and interment at Rose Hill Cemetery are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
