Graveside services for Alfred “Pat” Hooper, Sr., 89, of Chickasha, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2020 at Fairlawn Cemetery.

Alfred “Pat” Hooper was born June 28, 1931 to John Dee and Carrie (Thiessen) Hooper. He married the love of his life Mildred “Joyce” Hooper on February 10, 1951. He passed away Sunday August 16th, 2020.

Al spent 19.5 years serving in the U.S. Marine Corp including serving in the Vietnam War and the Korean Conflict. In that time, he earned the Navy Commendation Medal w/V, Certificate of Commendation, Combat Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation and Presidential Unit Citation. He was also a proud Grady County Sheriff Deputy for 15 years, working the first drug and tracking dogs in the county as well as running a custom hay bailing business. After retiring from the county, he spent most of his time fishing at Lake Texoma and spending time with his great-grandbabies.

He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife of 61 years, Mildred Joyce Hooper; son, Vaughn Monroe Hooper; and two brothers, Robert Hooper and Buck Hooper.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Alfred and Arlene Hooper of Rush Springs; granddaughters, Crystal Lee and her husband, Sammy, of Rush Springs and Lori Michelle Hooper and her husband, Derek Bennewith, of Ninnekah; grandson, Eric Vaughn Hooper, of Chickasha; brothers, Mark Hooper and his wife, Lydia, of Mountain View and George Hooper of Mountain View; seven great-grandchildren; and other extended family and friends.

There will be no viewing.

Services are under the direction of Ferguson Funeral Home.
